Mefisto De Blaziet proves he's all stakes horse

September 18, 2004 - Retama Park: Mefisto De Blaziet proved again he is all Stakes Horse when he won the Tiki Diablo Hall of Fame Classic. He had just won the Grade III Texas Arabian Derby on September 4 at Retama Park. Mefisto De Blaziet is a 4 year old chestnut colt, bred by Jean-Pierre Comte and Patricia Comte in France. He is by the stallion Tidjani and out of Blika Du Moulon by Badr.

Roman Chapa rode Mefisto De Blaziet to win by a nose over second place finisher Tomoka Joe. Royal Opal was third. Tomoka Jack, Amazing Proof, Grand Vitesse and Czus Comet SWA finished out the field. The time of the race was 1:39.31.

Mefisto De Blaziet is owned by Eric and Randi Moreau-Sipiere and trained by Mike Furr.

The $12,000 Tiki Diablo Hall of Fame Classic was held on the turf, a race going seven and one half furlongs and sponsored by Sam Vasquez. The race originally written for Fillies this year, was changed to an open race at the request of the track. At Sam's insistence, the track wrote another race for the fillies on the turf which ran on September 17 and was won by Royale Fanfare, owned by Dan and Claudia Spears.
