Orangeblsmspecial did it again. This uniquely colored filly by Monarch AH won the Independence Sprint earlier this year. She's a 4 year old, beautiful and fast, and was ridden to victory in the October 13th Arabian Distaff by talented jockey, Daniel Boudreau. Now a double stakes winner, Orangeblsmspecial's race record to date is 4 wins out of 10 lifetime races, 2 seconds, and 3 thirds. She is owned and bred by Russell Werner. Frank Betancourt is her trainer.

The Arabian Distaff stakes was a 7 1/2 furlong challenge for fillies and mares aged 3 and up. Eight went into the gates. BJ Zell jumped out for the early lead. She was the favorite. MW Princess Z took up the chase, and was in first position by the half. Drempt It Clearly was making a move, going 5 wide to sneak up on the leaders.

But it was Orangeblsmspecial whose off-the-pace strategy played out the best. She had been settled back in the first half of the race, saving ground, and then rallied down the inside in the stretch.

It was a driving finish, and Orangeblsmspecial overtook BJ Zell to win by a length. Drempt It Clearly was third, Dirham Express was forth. The rest finished in this order: Amuseme Or Loseme, MW Princess Z, Double Heaven, and Strawberry Bay.

The dam of Orangeblsmspecial is BC Flashti (Edenstreak x Eld Cashti), who was a successful racing mare herself achieving 3 stakes wins and 7 stakes placings in her career. Orangeblsmspecial was born in Calfornia as BC Flashti's second foal of her four progeny. BC Flashtiki's first foal is 4 time race winner Flash D'Or.

The Arabian Distaff Stakes paid $8,340 to first place, $2,780 to second, $1,529 to third, $834 to fourth, and $417 to the fifth place finisher.
