Eric and Randi Moreau-Sipiere's odds-on favorite Kryptonite CS, ridden by Jeff Jerman and trained by Greg Ketter, didn't disappoint in Saturday's $15,000 Cassels Bruczest Arabian Stakes at Lone Star Park with a comfortable, front-running 8 ¾-length victory over Oh My Goodness.

Kryptonite CS ran the first quarter mile in :25.67, the half in :51.32 and five-eighths in 1:06.42 before stopping the teletimer in 1:21.34 for six furlongs. Runner-up Oh My Goodness finished 3 ¾ lengths ahead of Kingpin CS.

Just Eddy, WMA Zebulun and You Bet completed the order of finish. Spring With Caily and Kowboy CS were late scratches.

Kryptonite CS paid $3.40 to win as the 3-5 betting favorite in the field of six Arabians. The Texas-bred 3-year-old improved his record to two wins and a second in three starts with earnings of $17,790. First place was worth $9,450.

Naming of the Texas Stakes

The Texas Bred Stakes historically have run in the summer at Retama Park were named the Independence Sprints. The dates have been changed to the fall this year to run at Lone Star Park. To to distinguish that, the names have also changed. Going forward, the idea is to name these races after different horses/people every year, to honor those who have made an impact on the Arabian breed and horse racing.

This year, the names of the races are the Cassels Bruzcest Arabian Stake and the HF Orzonna Arabian Stake (the Orzonna unfortunately did not fill this year.)
