BURNING FANCY no surprise in the Texas Lone Star Arabian Futurity

(Saturday, December 12, 2009 - Sam Houston Race Park)—The night’s seventh race was the $21,150 Texas Lone Star Arabian Futurity and showcased three year old fillies going six furlongs with Burning Fancy going off the heavy favorite. This daughter of Burning Sand out of Sayquins And Lace by Sayhi MC was by far the most experienced filly, with 5 wins including 2 stakes wins to her record coming into the race.

Burning Fancy set the early pace out of the gate, clearing the field quickly to cross the wire unopposed by 11 3/4 lengths. The final time for the 6 furlongs was 1:19.96. The ride proved to be the night’s largest lead and jockey Kelsi Purcell was thrilled with the win saying, “I couldn’t have asked for a better performance tonight from this horse; she just did everything right and we had a great win!”

Brulante, also by Burning Sand, finished second just a neck over Alla Masquerade who is by Ala Croixnoire. Zakora, Paris Affaire, Damasing, Schakka Khan, and Ella MHF completed the field.

Burning Fancy is owned by Marvin Powell, trained by Jerry Partin, and bred by Arnold and Gail Bardin.
