1-5 FAVORITE BURNING FANCY WINS
MANDOLYNN HILL FARM / ARC STAKES (G3) FILLY & MARE DIVISION BY IMPRESSIVE 13 3/4 LENGTHS
OVER A SLOPPY TRACK IN THE RAIN

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Friday, Nov. 20, 2009) – Odds-on favorite Burning Fancy at 1-5, who is owned by Marvin Powell and trained by Jerry Partin, didn’t disappoint in winning the 2nd Running of the ARC-Grade 3, $21,200 Mandolynn Hill Farm Stakes for Arabian fillies and mares, three-years-old and up, by 13 ¾ lengths over a sloppy track at Lone Star Park on Friday evening.

Ridden by jockey Kelsi Purcell, the gray daughter of Burning Sand took the lead right out of the gate and never looked back in setting fractions of 25.19 and 50.61 before stopping the timer for the seven furlongs at 131:98.

After being chased down the backstretch by Ooh Lay La, Burning Sand opened up by about five lengths entering the turn and extended that margin to 10 lengths by the time she turned for home.

With the win, Burning Fancy improved her record to five wins, with two seconds, from seven starts and increased her lifetime earnings to $41,540 with the $11,700 winner’s share. Jessys Princess finished second and it was another length back to Chays Zell MKP in third.

Burning Fancy paid $2.60, $2.10, $2.10, Jessys Princess returned $2.40 and $2.10, and Chays Zell MKP paid $6.40 for show. Ooh Lay La, WMA Sugar N Spice, MW Bonnie Z, and Get Her Done completed the order of finish. Djenteel and Lori Anne were scratched.
