2012 Lone Star Arabian Colts & Geldings Futurity

LACY VAZ goes wire to wire in the Lone Star Arabian Colts & Geldings Futurity

December 8, 2012, Retama Park- Lacy Vaz, a 3 year old gelding by Kador De Blaziet out of Lacy-Jay by Burning Sand, wasted no time taking command of the Lone Star Arabian Colts & Geldings Futurity. Driven by jockey Jose Figueroa who gave him a dazzling start, Lacy Vaz shot out of the inside gate and used his rail spot to blaze the trail.

In hot pursuit as they raced to the quarter pole was Chachie, a son of TH Richie out of Zilver Charm by Sam Tiki. Chachie was used up as he was hussled to chase the leader and tired. Taking up the chase was Djet Set Go, who got a brief handle on second in the stretch before he was passed by Krossfire CS making a charge. Krossfire CS is another son of Kador De Blaziet. He is out of Juana Be A Star by Las Starsnstripes.

With about 8 lengths advantage on the field, Lacy Vaz bore out in the stretch as he led the charge for the wire. Krossfire CS was making up a lot of ground and closing fast, but Lacy Vaz prevailed by 1 1/2 lengths.

Lacy Vaz is owned and bred by Sam Vasquez. He is trained by Juan Ascencio. Second place finisher Krossfire CS was bred by Eric and Randi Moreau-Spiere and is trained by Rita DeLeon for owner Lorraine Cunningham. Finishing third was Djet Set Go by Djet Set De Falgas out of Fawora by Fawor, owned and bred by Jane Teutsch and trained by Elizabeth Brand.
