2012 Texas Arabian Oaks



MS DIXIE ridden out to easy victory, sets new track record in the Texas Arabian Oaks


November 17, 2012, Retama Park - MS DIXIE was full of run from the start, pulling on her rider Gregorio Rivera ready to go. He set her behind pacesetters Lil Rich Girl and Mufv It On Over, before he let her go at the half. She romped away to an easy victory 16 lengths over her rivals and set a new track record for the mile, 1:49.72.

Ebeaucoup was no match for the winner but finished a solid second over the rest of the field. DC Willeys Song moved up for third, followed by Golden Odessy in fourth.

MS DIXIE is trained by Scott Powell. This win, her sixth in 18 starts, boosts her earnings to $78,748. Her first win of this year was the Texas Yellow Rose Stakes G2 in Houston, then she traveled to Colorado to pick up a win of the Cobra Distaff Sprint Stakes, and onto Delaware Park where she won the Cre Run Oaks Arabian Distaff G2.

A four year old filly by Burning Sand out of Dixie Darlene by Wiking, MS DIXIE was bred by Bill Waldron in Florida. She spent some time in the claiming ranks before her stellar stakes career under ownership of Quarter Moon Ranch.

Bred by Jane Teutsch, the second place finisher Ebeaucoup is a daughter of Djet Set De Falgas out of Wikings Wixen, by Wiking. She was ridden by Larry Taylor and is owned and trained by Matthew Glover. She just came off a win of the TM Fred Texas Arabian Stakes at Lone Star Park and has 2 wins of her 11 starts.

DC Willeys Song who finished third was bred by Dan and Claudia Spears. This daughter of Doran SBFAR and Wibwilcca just began her race career this year and won her first out in Houston in February. She raced in Delaware earning another win before returning to Texas for this event. She is owned by Jon Henningsgard and trained by Jerenesto Torrez, and was ridden by Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez.

Golden Odessy, hitting the board fourth, was a two time winner in 2011, but her best effort this year was her third placing in the Texas Yellow Rose G2 in Houston. She is by Oh By Gosh and out of Triple Five, by Calin Du Loup. Guy Neivens is her owner and breeder. She was ridden by Filemon Rodriguez and is trained by Ron Martino.

Final order of finish in the 2012 Texas Arabian Oaks: MS DIXIE, Ebeaucoup, DC Willeys Song, Golden Odessy, Lil Rich Girl, Mufv It On Over, Efondue, and Dancelildiamond. The Texas Arabian Oaks offered a purse of $20,000.

The next Texas Arabian stakes event weekend is December 8th with the running of two divisions of the Lone Star Futurities.
